John was a volunteer from Carlisle,Cumberland Co. PA Listed as mulatto (but actually Indian). Described as 5'6', dark eyes, black hair, mulatto complexion. Joined ranks on 19th Feb 1864 for 3 yrs. Enlistment by Lt. Edgar Set 101st Reg. of PA Vol. He was a minor so his mother Eliza Neal co-signed. He was 18yrs. old.
